All things excellent are as difficult as they are rare. - Spinoza
Friends of q-Staff,
We're sorry to say that "With Bright Spines: A Working Presentation" scheduled for the coming Wednesday and Sunday, Jan. 13 and 17 as part of the Revolutions Theatre Festival has been cancelled.
Our performance environment and work process have been critically compromised, and we refuse to expose our audience to these conditions or to compromised work.
If you've purchased tickets, please receive a refund at: 505.315.2704
We realize this is coming to you last minute; the problems leading to the cancellation have escalated very rapidly and recently. We're working now to resolve the situation and secure q-Staff's commitment to excellent live theatre.
In the meantime, we ask for your continued support and wholeheartedly recommend that you attend "the Unpossessed" festival performance by Double Edge Theatre at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. We speak from direct experience in sharing with you that the group, their history and this performance are amazing.
If you'd like to know more about the current situation or would like to help, please read on.
In short, we have a dispute with our landlord and the new business he leased into the space adjoining our theatre -they want to rent space for dance classes and to book as a dance club.
Next door to each other, a business using loud music will wreck one using quiet. They chose to ignore this reality and agreed to a lease despite our repeated and detailed communications about the conflict - and despite our many years of caring and careful work in this location. If you'd like to help, please donate to any arts organization you support. The same careless or hostile conditions for performing arts prevail in so many cases. Let's change that.
If you are aware of any available space that might serve as a temporary home for our performance work while we attempt to resolve the current impasse, please forward any information you can.
