q-news:
BREAKING:
q-Staff theatre space doubles its size!

After 4 1/2 amazing years in its home on 66, the theatre has finally outgrown its single store-front space. Through a generous arrangement with the building owner, and the incredible support of q–Staffers near and far, q-Staff is taking over the neighboring store front.

We'd long planned on expanding the facilites, but the opportunity came suddenly and sooner than expected. The group went into high gear, rallying supporters & partners, and have been very moved by the outpouring of donations and helping hands.

The first phase of work will join the new space to our current front lobby, strip off the office carpet, replace lighting, and repair & paint the ceilings & walls. Oh, and our beloved patrons will no longer have to cross the street to use Wendy's bathrooms before performances (huzzah!).

Initial plans include developing a theatre cafe with a coffee and pastry counter open for business hours, while preserving the sprung floor and mirror wall (from the former capoiera) in the back of the space. Beyond providing additional room for the theatre, we're looking for artists and other community partners who might be interested in sharing residence. We think there would be a powerful synergy between the theatre, the cafe, and a variety of practices: dance, yoga, tai chi, etc. We're also eager to hear from our audience. If you or someone you know have an idea or are attracted to the location and its possibilities, be sure to stop in, see a performance, or drop us a line.

fundraising progress:
Bolstered by a generous $1000 matching grant, we're almost to our goal of $3000 for the initial construction phase. We've raised $2180 so far. $20 donations have been rolling in, and even a fiver gets doubled by our matcher - and gets us that much closer. If you can pitch-in with a donation, we'll see to it you get a space worth every penny. Heartfelt thanks to the many who've already given.
